My textiles are created with painstaking care. I take the finest in natural fiber, usually silk, dye it with materials (almost always natural) that I source primarily from my walks in the neighborhood, then I prep, loom and weave the fiber into artistic textiles of original design. The two pieces on this page show the detail of the work that I am undertaking. You can learn more about my art in this website and you can see the progress of new works on my Instagram page.
This first piece uses warp ikat to create the undulating gray curves in the background, and a form of supplemental weft weave to create the seven multicolored parallel curves in the foreground. Ikat is the process of dyeing the fiber (in this case, silk) multiple colors before it is placed on the loom. The supplemental weft is created by manually inserting the silk into the weft as I weave. This piece was woven on a 4-harness floor loom.

You can see the same techniques at work in this next piece, too. The black square effect has been created using warp ikat, and the circles have been woven again using supplemental weft weaving. This piece too was woven on a 4-harness floor loom.
